Gah...overwhelmed, stressed, busy, tired, ready to be done with this change. I'm being asked if I'm excited, happy, looking forward to this move and I can honestly say no. Not right now. I like to think I am good with change and welcome it with open arms but when it comes down to crunch time, all I can think about is the moment. And at the moment, I have no desire to do anything productive in getting ready for the move. Hah, lazy? Denial? All the above? Haha. All will be well, it always is and I do know this but I will allow myself these feelers. Its how I'm going to roll with it.
San Dieago, I say this in my best Ron Burgandy voice. It'll be good. The Cs...Cora is too young to understand and Coby is excited. Chris checked in with his new command last week. It'll be nice to have him back with us before we move finally. I feel like I've clicked right back into deployment mode; a little too easy. Maybe because he came home in August? Eh, who knows. Oh so back to the Cs. Coby started Kindergarten in September and is doing really well. He loves to do math and being read to. He can also read really simple books and makes a strong effort in sounding out his words. He also loves his Legos and I LOVE watching what he recreates from his sets. He's really creative. We played Battleship earlier and had a good time. Cora wanted to play too but she knocks the little pegs out while trying to tumble on me. She wasn't the best team player LOL. Speaking of Cora, she is still my wee giant of a personality. She is really smart, chatty, and tough. Boy is she tough. She is my instant gratification little girl and the cutest little thing in her cowboy boots. I don't think I will ever have to worry about her being bullied, she just doesn't put up with crap. Coby, he internalizes, like me. But he also blows unlike me LOL. He has picked up some "quirks" from school and the youth center that I'm working on phasing out but others, Cora has caught on and its double "quirks."
I should go to bed. Just stopped by because its been entirely too long. I started re-reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Excellent series. OH! Before I forget, Cora essentially potty trained herself. All that talk about girls being easier than boys, I will have to agree.
Until the next blog..hasta la pasta

February the Quickest Month or so I Hope!
As I type this, Cora is nailing pictures on the wall or something in her crib. Persistent little girl she is, banging away and fighting her bedtime. 0545 will be coming real early for her tomorrow when I have to wake her up and get her in the shower with me.
Not too much going on these days. I'm still trying to get caught up on things from last month that I had to set aside. I really need to wash some of my clothes tonight. I started yesterday morning with getting up early again (0455 to be exact) so that I can get my workout in. Its rough LOL, I need to get to bed earlier. I went for a run yesterday for the first time in 3wks (besides the Color Run) and it was also in my new running shoes with new inserts. Goodness, the first 1.5 miles was rough. My feet were in pain and I was out of shape. But I pushed thru it and made it home for a distance of 3 miles. Come to find out that I had inserted my custom inserts ON TOP of the manufacture inserts so my feet were really squished which explains the pain. DOH! I'm such a...well ok, not my brightest moment. I'm looking forward to my run tomorrow to see how these shoes really are (sans one pair of inserts of course).
CJ had his 5yr appt today and also a physical screening for kindergarten. He did really well and I guess is pretty flexible for a kid his age. He is 37lbs and 41-1/2" tall which is consistent with his growth chart. It was noticed that he has a mild ear infection so he's on antibiotics for now. I had a follow up podiatrist appt and it went well. The pain is much less from the neuroma now and i'm hoping it stays away by using my new running shoes. My old shoes were too small for my poor feet.
I have a hair appt on friday; i'm taking a half day off from work to get it done, get my long run in (probably 5 miles this week) and then meet up with the base school liaison to discuss kindergarten options for CJ. I called the charter school today and it looks like I misheard as to when they are doing the lottery. They are not drawing until Feb 25-27 so CJ is still in the game. LOL Cora is signing now in her room; that stinker is going to be one tired baby tomorrow morning.
Not much else to report on but i've got some pics to share
I love you, time to check out completely mentally and veg with the tv.

I'm Not Tina!
Hehehe, so I'm not sure who is familiar with the movie Napolean Dynamite but there is a scene in the movie in which Napolean has to feed his Grandma's pet llama. So he flings a spoon filled with who knows what at the llama thru a chain link fence and says "Eat the food Tina!" Cracks me up and has stuck with me. So last night at the dinner table, I told Cora and Coby "Eat the foods Tinas!" and Coby looked at me with a serious expression and said "I'm not Tina!" Well, now that we have THAT clarified :P
Well, here we are, sitting pretty with a week into this deployment. I actually meant to post this blog last night but fell asleep with CJ at 7:15pm. Momma needed some sleep! I went to the Parent/Teacher Conferences for the Cs this morning. Cora is doing fantastic with her talking and her words. I'm rather proud of this one, she now knows the difference between a fart and a poop. She will announce to anyone that is around "Rora fart" and if she hear's you fart, "Momma fart" or "Boby fart." She was playing with CJ's Ironman figuring earlier mimicing all the words that the toys says.
CJ, that child can talk and talk and talk! He has to get that from your Dad. He's doing really well at school and is ready for kindergarten. I have to work with him with writing his letters but he's there mentally and emotionally. He counted to 100 on the drive home from daycare today and he can also count to 10 in spanish. He's very bright, they both are.
This last weekend was kind of strange. I think because I didn't have anything planned so an adjustment of sorts with you away. I did take a 2.5hr nap with CJ and Cora took a 3hr nap so that was fabulous! I stopped by the office today to submit my time sheet and they are getting our new cubicles put together. Looks like I may be going back to work by the end of next week or the following depending on when all the computers and printers are hooked up.
Not much else to say since we've been able to skype twice today. Seeing your face and hearing your voice is really nice. We'll have to do it this weekend with Cora so she can see you too. Daddy's girl needs her Daddy time. I'm really happy we have skype and all this electronic stuff.
We love you and miss.

Long Time Coming...Again
I just finished watching the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead; my latest addiction although now it won't continue until Feb. I need another half hour to decompress before hitting the sack.
We got the tree up today; it was kind of comical in watching the Cs help decorate. Cora was more concerned with tasting the ornaments and Coby placed all his ornaments on the bottom of the tree next to each other. It was cute but we did move some around. The funniest being two blue balls next to each other hahaha. I'm really not feeling Christmas this year and am starting to feel a little overwhelmed but I think because it signifies the pausing of our time with Chris home. He leaves next month for his next deployment.
I guess that's why i'm back here. I'm no good at this until deployment comes around but I try to balance what I can when I can. Yesterday I participated in my first Spartan Sprint. Its a 5k obstacle course but was located in the hills of Malibu canyon with really muddy trails because of the rain. It was hardcore! I was anxious and excited to start but once in the mode of running it, I was in a competitive mode and trying to pass people and try my best at the obstacles. I personally think I was doing pretty good until the traverse wall which was 3/4 of the way thru the course I think. I tried it but couldn't so I had to do my 30 burpees as a penalty. Afterwards I made the mistake of going left and not right and wasted 20+ minutes going the wrong way. I did finish though and I have to say I was glad. Towards the end of the course I just wanted to be done I was so beat. It really tested me and granted it was hard, I did it and that is what I took home as my personal prize. If you asked me yesterday if I would do it again I would tell you no but as I type this, I think I would.
The Cs are doing well. Coby's been talking about his birthday a lot these days and its a little hard for me because between now and then Chris leaves and I am not ready for that. Well, I don't think I ever am but just want time to slow down some. I measured him this morning and he is now 42 inches tall. He looked like he had grown but goodness. Less than 2 feet and he will be taller than me. He's a smart kid who loves to tell stories and enjoys talking LOL. Cora is 21 months old now and her talking is really taking off. I heard a lot of two word statements today and have heard her say a 3 word statement here and there. She can put her pants on now along with her socks and shoes and is now trying to figure out how to get her shirt on. She is very smart, just like her brother. I speak from Mom pride but also from just watching them. Chris and I have a blast watching the two of them play and they do play together well for the most part. Our bed and the mirrored closet doors was their fave place to hang out today. When it was quiet, we'd find them back there bouncing/falling on the bed or being goofy and looking in the mirror. I am grateful that we have such fun kids and that they bring us such laughter and smiles.
I think it may have hit Chris today a wee bit about leaving soon. Well, either that or having cabin fever with the rain. He ended up doing some random cleaning things that needed to be done. He's ready to be done with his current command and will be rotating out once he get's home from deployment. Orders are questionable and we could be going to SD or even VA. I'm game for either. Chris and I have talked about being able to explore the east coast and we've been told by people that have been stationed there already that they have great schools. CJ starts the big K next year as well.
I'm currently working form home since they are remodeling the office. It has its pros/cons but I do like the convenience of it. Chris and I talk about how at the next house we want to do bunk beds for the Cs so that we can have another room. They don't even play in their rooms now really. We'll see though.
I have more stuff but I just yawned so its time to get to bed. I'll be back at some point.

Hello Summer!
Long time no type...its not that i'm that lazy, just preoccupied most nights i'd like to say. So here I am at work where I make my bacon (and eat it too) updating this poor blog of mine.
I cannot believe we are now into summer. This year has been busy thus far and training for Chris begins next month so I feel like i'm back to counting down to his next deployment come january-ish. Kinda sucks, but we're hoping this will be his last.deployment.EVER! He will be up for orders come december and is hoping to get orders back to NCTC (training facility) so that we can stay here at Hueneme and ride out the remaining time. Who knows though, needs of the navy far outweighs needs of the Beltramo Family.
Sooo, I got this email this week from USC regarding their online MSW program (Master's program Social Work) mentioned how I haven't shown interest in awhile. It got my wheels spinning yet again about how I feel that it would be a good fit for me. They have 3 concentrations and their newest is Military Social Work and I really, REALLY feel that is where I belong. Its hard though financially...we still have the house in WA and the tenants move out in Oct. For the MSW program, I would have to quit my job because you have to work 20 hours/week out in the field at whatever facility they place you at. So now, the fire is burning under me to get the paperwork submitted for HAP (Homeowners Assistance Program offered by the USACE). This program which we qualify for says if we sell our house at a loss, they will pick up 95% of the difference and us only the 5%. For instance lets say we owe $200k and we sell for $160k, HAP will pay $38k towards our mortgage and we pay only $2k. Great program but just requires so much paperwork. But I figure if we sell the house then I can go back to school. But another condition needs to be met (preferably). Chris transferred his GI Bill to me so I now qualify for the Yellow Ribbon program offered at some schools. USC is part of the Yellow Ribbon program and offers 60 students/year in the MSW program $10k a year towards tuition. Hot damn! I'm a veteran, wife to active duty member, co-ombudsman to a command of 550 personnel, its calling my name and I really think I could qualify (I should check my GPA I guess huh :P)! So here I am typing this blog when I should be making copies of the house receipts...hehe.
Ok, moving forward...the Cs are doing well. They play more together and Coby is an awesome big brother. He gets in her face quite often and she does not like it LOL. She's trying to talk more but is still on the quiet side but very active. He is currently in the "why" phase and driving us nuts. I lose my pateince and feel bad at times but a parent can only take so much!
I've got to cut this short to get to work on them receipts so I can get this package out ASAP. I think I need to work here until December so that I can be fully vested with the Fed Gov meaning it'll be easier to get a Fed job down the road. Also more $ to pay off debt. Here's a link to the USC MSW program i'm interested in: USC MSW program. Crap, gotta wait a few, IT guy is near the copier I need to use :P
XOXOXO
Christine
PS - Update...I just researched and I need to work 5 years (vice the 3 I thought) to be fully vested in the federal gov and I hit 3 in December. Looks like I will do my 5 years then do the MSW. Gives us time to pay down our debt and make it easier to go to one income.

May Day!
So, the post I created for April never showed (obviously) so i thought I could work on one for at least this month :)
All is well, the Cs are getting bigger and Chris is home. Cora had tubes put in her ears not too long ago and is now getting over an unrelated cold but I think today was a start to the "new" Cora without having any yucky ear infections. She followed CJ all over the house and yard this afternoon and was yelling really loud as if finally hearing herself for the first time. It was cute. CJ later told me "sister followed me everywhere Mommy." I told him that his sister loves him so so much and wants to play with him but is still a baby. He is so stinkin' sweet with her 85-90% of the time. He has to give her a hug and kiss each morning before we drop her off at her daycare room and before bed. He brings her toys when she is waking up or upset and just really loves her. Ok, so 10-15% of the other time you will find him pushing her over or wiping snot from her face with a plastic horse shoe pin proceeding to nearly poke her eye out, or the usual "Noooooooo CORA ROSE!!!" And that girl, she does not put up with shitake mushrooms, at all!
So, we've been enjoying Chris being home and we're back to the norm. He's busy being the Alfa 4 (because you know what the means right? I guess I should explain but he's not home at the moment :P) and taking on side projects for his co-workers and friends. Coby mastered the pedal bike after receiving one for his 4th bday and Cora took to walking in March. One of our favorite family times I think is watching the Cs fall down and stand up on the bed; they absolutely love it and Cora is always trying to imitate her big brother and cracks herself up when she tries it. She really does complete are family.
I stated a new position with the same agency but am now on a manufacturing team vice contracts team. Its for the better now that i'm busy and also received a grade increase (GS7 now). I'm still in training and I really like my boss. My job is to research deliveries or lack of with contractors and provide information for our Industrial Specialists to make informed decisions; so lots of research and i'm good at that. I also volunteered to be a co-ombudsman for Chris's command. I am one of three and will act as a liaison between NMCB 5 families and the command. I think it'll be very fulfilling and busy once FEX starts.
This past wknd was a blast. It started out with Chris at a command function and the Cs at daycare friday night so I could attend a spouses only bunco party and it was a blast. On saturday I participated in my first Mud Run put on by NCTC and it was sooo much fun! I was with new friends and we had a great time in the mud. Sunday consisted of going to Goleta and spending much needed time with my family for a lazy BBQ and play day at the pool. It was Cora's first time and she was ok with it. Coby had a blast and kept jumping in with his floatie thing. He's a kid that likes to chance things; kinda like his Dad...
This wknd coming up will be spent out in the Mojave at Dove Springs for some camping and riding. I think we might need to bring the kid pool and invest in some astro turf for some red neck relaxing out in the heat. Should be good times!
Well, here's to getting back on here more and I'll work on updating with some pics too.
XOXOXO!

XOXOXO!
